MIZZOU Basketball: JArron Coleman “IM COming for MINES!”

In the wake of a new basketball season, amid the COVID-19. Indianapolis IN native Jarron Coleman maintains his focus to make his dream a reality. That’s the opportunity to play professional on the next level in the NBA. If you don’t recall his name of silky style play.

We call him by another name, “Boogie”. His game is something special that you have to witness with his 6’6″ frame and long wingspan.

Indiana Basketball, Pike Elite, Lincoln Basketball, 2018 Prep Ball Stars, 2018 IBCA/Subway Senior All State, 1000 points scored at Cathedral High School, on the cover of Hoosier Basketball, Indy Heat Gym Rats and this is just a few leagues in which Jarron took part in.

Learning the game at an early age was put on him by his father Jarron Coleman Sr. His father an athlete back in the day but nothing compares to the amount of work, training and getting good food nutrients that Boogie has maintained.

Playing for the Cathedral Irish which is a Catholic School, located on the Northeast Side of Indy. Coleman’s stat sticks out like a sore thumb. Was ranked the No. 7 player in the state of Indiana 2018 Class. He also Guided Cathedral to a City Tournament Championship.

The numbers speak for themselves earning Indiana recognition while averaging 17.2 points, 4.1 assist and 2.5 steals as a senior.

I had an opportunity to watch Boogie play in high school and at Ball State his Freshman year. A slasher that can create his own shot. He can beat you off the dribble. He can post you up with his long 6’6” frame and he knows what to do with the basketball once it’s in his hands. Becoming a consistent scorer is a norm for Coleman but he understands to use that against tough opponents.

By redshirting his very first year of playing college basketball (Ball State) was a mind set at first but then realizing the importance of getting stronger and understanding the tough physical play at the College level. Coming back into the program the next year gave more insight on how the game is to be played.

2020 Mac Freshman of the Year for the Ball State Cardinals. Played in 44 games that year averaging 10.6 points, 4.9 rebs with .373 behind the 3-point line.

Now there was some ups and downs as this journey continues for Boogie, but nothing that would keep his mind off basketball. When he broke his foot in practice. He thought about everything he worked hard for, thought about his siblings, father and mom. At this point the motivation was the key factor in bouncing back with a vengeance to prove himself once again.

I had a chance to speak with Jarron Coleman during this summer and he assured me that this season would be a special one. He’s feeling healthy and now with the transfer to MIZZOU.

The Sec is something Boogie dreamed about playing in against the tough team’s night in and night out. One thing is certain the “MIZZOU” Basketball team will have a legitimate scorer in Jarron “Boogie” Coleman

Mystics Prevail Over Fever in Overtime!!!

It was a fun and exciting game to watch between the Washington Mystics and Indiana Fever. All-Stars were on display tonight between Elena Delle Donne (Mystics),Candice Dupree(Fever) and Erica Wheeler (Fever). The Mystics jumped out to a early 21-15 1st Quarter lead behind Center Emma Meesseman who chipped in with 9 quick points. Kristi Toliver smart guard during the 1st half gave the Mystics a 41-37 halftime lead.

The game speed was evenly matched  because of the Fevers interchangable guard play with Tiffany Mitchell, Shenise Johnson and Paris Kea (R). However, the Mystics biggest lead was 8 at one point and the Fever fought back to take the lead 69-68 with under three minutes to play in the 4th Quarter. But the AllStar Delle Donne ties the game at 79-79 with a 3 pointer at the top of the arc. SHE felt it was a good release when it left her hands…

The Fever Shenise Johnson makes what seems to be the go ahead basket with 4.8 seconds left to go in the game. Not the case when you have the Assassin “Elena Della Donne” with basketball.

In Overtime, the Mystics kept pace and applied pressure on the Fever team. Before a crowd of 6726 to witness this team play moderate basketball. Even though they play hard and bring it every game. Playing in the WNBA is about having a consistent team who play together throughout the season and when the playoffs come: Cash In!

The ups and downs in various game can be considered a let down or the basic, we played bad tonight. Not putting this team down or under the boat but you have to mentality be prepared in this League in order to win. Tasting success with Tamika Catching makes you want to win all the time at every cost.

This Fever team comes with Passion, Dedication  plus the leave it all on the floor type of attitude.  AllStar Erica Wheeler dropped (18pts) (7rebs) (5asst) in the Overtime game but that wasn’t enough as (Mystics) Elena Delle Donne had (28pts) (15rebs) (4blks) in a 95-88 Victory at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse! The Fever have lost 10 of the last 14. They take on Phoenix Mercury tuesday night and MVP Diana Taurasi is back after having back surgery during the summer. It doesn’t get any easier for the Fever who record now is 6-14.

Ice Cube shakes hands with the fans at Bankers Life Fieldhouse after the 2nd stop of the 3rd Season!!

It was a Homecoming not few would have seen in a Soap Opera or a Super hero movie. Despite Killer 3s Stephen Jackson not in attendance, due to a sore right knee…. These list of players are tied with Indiana roots one way or the other.

Andre Owens Perry Meridian High School to IU basketball, to being in 2017 the only BIG3 player to finish top-5 in scoring (16.5ppg) (60rebs) (119 asst) Also playing with the Pacers in 2007-2008.

Greg Oden Lawrence North Mr Basketball, Gaterode Player of the Year before playing at Ohio State with Guard Mike Conley. In the 2007 NBA draft #1 by the Portland Trailblazer where Oden landed. This is his 1st year in the BIG3 who was drafted by the Aliens with the #7 of the BIG3 draft.

All with the positive picture of playing the game they love. The BIG3 welcome Indianapolis to the 2nd tour date with great exciting Basketball. Ice Cube knows how to bring a crowd out and being a Mastermind of creativity with this new league. This being the 3rd year came with more cities, bigger exposure and major Sponsorship.

By CBS being a major contributor of the 3rd year means Ice Cube plans are not only successful but getting great reviews and likes for this BIG3 league with former NBA players and Hall of Fame Coaches like DR. J ,Clyde Drexler, George Gervin and Rick Barry.

Mayor Joe Hoggsett Makes June 23 Proclamation of BIG3 day here in Indianapolis IN. First year Head Coach Lisa Leslie gets her first win by beating the Homegrown team Aliens with Oden, Owens, Vaden. The Triplets Joe Johnson chipped in with (27pts) (16rebs).

The Killer 3s minus Captain Stephen Jackson who had to see a doctor about his Knee. Came ready to play and Frank Session came to play but it was Josh Powell (18pts) (9rebs) with solid at down the stretch to secure the victory..The Final Game the Ghostballers Jamario Moon (20pts ) (4rebs) showed why his game play on the court is beneficial to the teams success!

The BiG3 travels to Charlotte and Philadelphia PA the next two stops. The city of Indianapolis wants to thank Ice Cube, the BIG3 and the Pacers for making this a successful venue to watch!!!

DREAM TAKE CONTROL DOWN THE Stretch

The Indiana Fever had 4 days to prepare for the Atlanta Dream after coming off a Home Saturday Loss to Chicago. Head Coach Pokey Chatman went back to basis to make sure her team is accountable for the play on the court.

Good News first Candice Dupree passes Sue Bird (Seattle Storm) who is currently 7th on the list. The Temple Owl Product and 12 year veteran takes pride in her game and lets’ everything out on the court. Sometimes you need a leader like Candice in the locker room to keep the spirits going and preparation sharp.

It takes more than skill to win a WNBA Championship as the Fever accomplished that back in 2012 with Future WNBA Hall of Famer Tamika Catching.

At the half it was the Fever 44 Dream 45 with Kelsey Mitchell adding 11 pts. Tearia McCowan 3rd pick of the WNBA Draft out of Mississippi State, who stands currently at 6’7″ 240lb solid gives the Fever not only a shot blocker. But a nice size rim protector to get some easy buckets in crucial times of a game.

The Two-Time SEC Defense Player of the Year clocked in 23 minutes of play and putting up another double double with 14 points 14 rebs 5 blks in a 88-78 lose to the Atlanta Dream. The Fever were short handed by the way, Natalie Achonwa wore street clothes besides her regular Salesforce sponsor jersey#11. She’s in a walking boot on her left foot and her return is within a week or so.

Atlanta’s Tiffany Hayes lead the way with28pts 6rebs 3 asst on 32 minutes played. Her Teammate Renee Montgomery who in previous games struggled to find herself, shook off the cold and found 16pts 6rebs 9asst in 34 minutes played. In order for the Fever to maintain leads they’re gonna have to learn to trust each other down the stretch and make the plays when need to be made.

The Fever play at Chicago on Friday with a 8pm tipoff. There record now stands at 4-5 one game below 500!
